The most famous and visited among eight national parks in Croatia is the NP – Plitvička jezera, registered in the list of world heritage of UNESCO, back in 1979.
According to IUCN, that states eight cathegories of natural areas protection, Plitvička jezera belong to the second cathegory – national park, that denotes the protected area.
